MicroPen / Microneedling
Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a favorite treatment among aesthetic practitioners owing to its many benefits and low down-time. We use the very best device the industry has to offer, the Eclipse MicroPen™. The MicroPen is a small, handheld device with incredible power to correct problematic skin and reverse visible signs of aging. On its own, the mechanical stimulation by tiny, single-use, sterile needles on the MicroPen™ aids in the production of new collagen and elastin and promotes cell turn-over. The added bonus with microneedling is the opportunity these little micro-punctures create to deliver potent topical serums and the most effective ingredients deep into the dermal layers of your skin, where issues tend to arise from.
Microneedling with the Eclipse MicroPen is a great choice for the treatment of acne scars, hypermigmentation, melasma, sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, undereye wrinkles, stretch marks and scars, or thinning skin.
Prior to a MicroPen treatment, a topical numbing agent is placed on top of the skin to minimize any discomfort. The skin is then cleaned and prepped. Next, the practitioner applies a topical agent, selected for your specific skin concerns, which also serves as a lubricant for the MicroPen™. Using gentle pressure, the practitioner will glide the pen in single-motion passes across the skin’s surface until the treatment area has been covered. The sensation has been compared to that of light sandpaper moving across the skin. This part of the procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
To complete the treatment, an additional layer of the topical agent is smoothed onto the skin’s surface and left on for several hours after leaving the office. Gentle skin care can resume that evening and you may return to your normal routine as soon any redness or sensitivity has resolved.
Most people see visible results from their first treatment with the MicroPen, after the skin is fully healed. Results will peak around 12 weeks, but the formation of new collagen can continue for several weeks to months after a single treatment.
Immediately following the treatment, the skin will appear pink, similar to a mild sunburn. This redness will resolve rapidly and most people can return to work the same day.
For optimal results, it is recommended that most patients receive a series of 3-5 treatments 4-6 weeks apart, depending on the individual’s treatment goals and skin condition.
